Guests Who Else Is Looking Up?

Here she is... as promised, my first very first contributor! Check out Asta Cronkite's article from The Momster Chronicles on her perspective of Looking Up:

Becoming a mom is an experience unlike any other. I thought I was prepared -I'm a planner- and I was blown away after having my first son. I never realized what tired was until I had Mason. Or worry, or happy. But most of all, I didn't realize how much love could fit in my heart. I used to plan every moment of my life. Mason blew that up immediately. With the lack of sleep, nourishment and hygiene, my plan for daily exercise and mommy groups went out the window. I learned to appreciate the little things, the small victories. I'm awake, fed and dressed, as is the baby - score! We went for an hour walk without a hitch - great! Every small victory meant I had a little bit of control on the situation and that was enough for me.

Having my second son, Sebastian, 19 months later sounded like a grand idea. Let them be close in age and hopefully have similar interests and maybe be friends. We'll get the diapers out of the way in the same chunk of time and be laughing. Then Sebby was born...chaos ensued, in the best of ways. I had twice the laundry, twice the diaper changes, twice the meltdowns...but twice the love and twice the affection. I love our little boys and our life we have built. Wouldn't change it for the world.

If I had any advice for a new parent... take the time to appreciate it all. Of course there will be moments of doubt or self pity...that's normal. Take that moment and hug that that baby. Put down the phone or tablet, turn off the TV and enjoy! It sounds cliche but it's entirely true: it goes so fast. Faster than you can imagine. Faster than you'd like. Hold on...it's a wild ride!

Cheers!
